CAD Draughtsperson / Furniture Designer

We are looking for experienced and driven candidates to join our team in the role of a CAD designer/draughtsperson.

The role will entail the design of made to measure commercial or domestic pieces of fine furniture, either from a clean sheet of paper or from concept drawings from architects/designers or client.

Designs must be fit for purpose and achievable in budget and timescale. Candidates must be considerate of many factors including the materials used, construction method, lighting, usability, installation constraints/site conditions and many others. This role will give you the opportunity to travel the UK to visit the clients, the job sites to take site dimensions, discuss the requirements of the job and to then continue to design and see your projects through to completion.

Ability to self manage and work to deadlines is essential, as it being part of not only the design team but also working closely with the workshop team as your working drawings come to life. Role can present to you the opportunity to apply your own design flair and style into your work, or alternatively you can work with the company director (who is lead designer) to create items as a mutual effort.

Ideal candidates MUST have prior experience of furniture manufacture, woodworking design & construction, 2D & 3D CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Sketchup) and you will receive training on our latest package IMOS (Previous experience of this would be amazing) The role will undertaken at our custom made workshop in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Monday to Thursday 8AM to 5PM, Friday 8AM to 1 PM. You may sometimes need to work long hours and at weekends to meet deadlines.

First 8 hours overtime is time and half, anything above 8 hours is double pay.

Workshop Assistant

We are looking for an experienced and driven individual to take the role of workshop assistant. Candidates must be experienced in modern workshop and site work is essential.

Candidates must:

· Possess current building & safety qualifications;

· Full driving license;

· Develop & maintain strong client, design team, colleague & supplier relationships;

· Be approachable;

· Be multi skilled & manage changes.

Duties

· Supporting our workshop team of cabinet makers in their day to day role - manual handling of large furniture components & stock material;

· Wrapping and protecting finished items of furniture;

· Safely loading and transporting furniture to site, ready for installation;

· Recording deliveries and delivered items entering the workshop;

· Keeping our workshop storage unit organised and tidy;

· Maintain the company vehicle in a high standard of cleanliness both internally and externally.

Your working hours shop floor will be 39 hour week

You may sometimes need to work long hours and at weekends to meet deadlines. First 8 hours overtime is time and half, anything above 8 hours is double pay.

Cabinet Maker

We are looking for an experienced and driven individual to take the role of cabinet maker/installer for an exceptionally large prestigious project we have acquired locally in Cheshire.

Candidates must:

· Be familiar with current on site rules and regulations;

· Possess current building & safety qualifications;

· Be a CSCS card holder;

· Full driving license;

· Develop & maintain strong client, design team, colleague & supplier relationships;

· Be approachable;

· Be multi skilled & manage changes.

Duties

· Creating a design drawing of the furniture (creating rods or setting out);

· Be experienced in reading drawings;

· Deciding on the quantity and type of wood needed and the construction method with experience of natural hardwood/softwood & unfinished and prefinished material;

· Creating cutting lists for timber/sheet material/fittings. If the necessary material is not in stock or on order, the purchasing team must be specifically informed;

· Cutting, shaping and planning the wood using electric and hand tools;

· Building the furniture by fixing the parts together using various methods;

· Adding other fixed or movable parts such as brackets, hinges, handles and locks to design requirement manufacturer details;

· Preparing the furniture for final finishing by French polisher or spray shop;

· Fitting up the furniture after finishing, loading the van and installation;

· Day to day manual handling of large furniture components and stock material.
